F-0040 Sounding records from a reservoir with months when the weight does not reach the bottom

(Said to be a copy of a water-level and sounding logbook. It has been excerpted centering on the months that concern the third sounding point, and the notation is kept as in the original.)

Remarks: Nothing unusual. The cherries on the embankment half in bloom.

Remarks: Point 3, the weight did not reach the bottom. All 10m of rope paid out. A current may have remained after the typhoon and pulled the rope at an angle. Will measure again tomorrow.

H21.9.12 Fair. Point 3 only, re-measured: 4.9.
Remarks: It reached. I take yesterday’s to have been the current. To be safe, put a 20m rope in the shed. Whether it happens only after high water, I will keep an eye on for a while.

Remarks: Point 3, all 20m of rope paid out and it did not reach. So much for the idea that it comes only after high water. This is a drawdown month with the intake stopped. Changed to a heavier weight and lowered it twice; the same. Thought I might have misread, but a rope paid out to its end cannot be misread.

H22.2.5 Fair. Point 3 only, re-measured: 4.8.
Remarks: It reached. It would be easier to write it up as an equipment fault, but there is no fault a rope and a weight can have. Last month stays as not measured.

Remarks: Every point is shallower than last year. The silt is coming in. Only Point 3 stays at 4.8, unmoved.

Remarks: From this year, Point 3 gets measured first. No particular reason. I just want it done while there is daylight. The cherries are late.

Remarks: Third time. The rope seemed to run out fast, but that is a feeling in the hands and there is no way to write it. My knee is going, and getting over the side of the boat takes it out of me.

Remarks: It reached. But the wet on the rope hauled back up came to around the 11m mark. The rope paid out was about 6m. No rain. The rope is brought out from a dry spot in the shed. The weight touched at 4.7. Writing it down.
