Nichome Park

Observation Period

just after the May holidays, 2026 2026-07-08

// Overview

Accounts are gathering of hide-and-seek in a children’s park where the replies of not yet come back one more than the number of children hiding. The surplus is usually one, and what increases is the not yet. A few records where the count fell short are mixed in as well. The children find it funny rather than frightening — an interview preserves the phrase: there’s a kid who’s really good at hiding. What survives are copies of the daily log of an after-school children’s club and transcripts of interviews with parents, along with one copied page from a Showa-era class anthology written about the same park, and several copied leaves from an old notebook that collected the words of children’s game calls from place to place. From the notebook, only the parts that connect to this park have been copied. Only the Showa-era items and the recent ones stand together; nothing from the years in between has been gathered.
