A file gathering records of exchanges someone carried on with another party in text. In the midst of an exchange, into the copy held on the responding, recording side, there gradually mix remarks one never typed, confidences one has no memory of making, and histories of exchanges one does not recall; several such copies remain. What mixes in is always on the responding side’s copy, while the text one actually typed does not diverge — so far, this holds across every copy. Who the other party is, and by what route the records were taken, are both unknown. What is bound here includes a copy of an exchange with a late-night consultation service, among other pieces.
